TROOP 263 SHOW SUPPORT FOR MJCA ATHLETICS

The Boy Scouts of America make a practice of helping their community with service projects. This teaches the boys to be active servants to their area. This time, they chose Mt. Juliet Christian Academy as the place that they wanted to serve.

During high school football games, press box space is at a premium. Both teams typically need one to two coaches each in the box. Plus, both teams have a film crew. MJCA has a broadcast team of three people. Sometimes, the opponents also bring a broadcast team. Lastly, there is always a public address announcer and a score keeper in the box. This presented a major crowding situation in our previous set up. The Boy Scouts found this to be a problem that they could help us with.

As you may remember, the third level of the press box was approximately one-third of the full press box's size, and it was an uncovered level. The Boy Scouts expanded that upper level to cover the complete area of the rest of the press box. They also put a roof over the third level to protect it from the weather.

The plans for the third level are to have the film crew in the middle section, with the two teams coaching box on the two outside sections.

MJCA would like to thank Mikey Brown and Troop 263 for providing this incredible service to our athletic program.

MJCA GOLF FINISHES UP AN OUTSTANDING SEASON

Coach Brent Turner and the MJCA golf team came into their first year in Division 2 with a bang. Returning most of its players, the Saints were able to put together its best golf record in school history (9 wins - 2 losses). The Saints were led by junior, T.J. Roberts, who currently holds the school record for the lowest 9 hole round in a school match (34, 2 under par).

The Saints team also recorded the lowest team score of 163 in a single match this year (that score is taken by 4 players over 36 holes).

The good news remains that all MJCA golfers are under-classmen and will return next year to make another run at the region.

MJCA is proud of the accomplishments of the 2009 MJCA high school golf team!

PRESENT IS GOOD, BUT THE FUTURE LOOKS GREAT FOR LADY SAINTS SOCCER

Lady Saints high school soccer coach, Matt Swallows, is happy with their progress this season. However, he is very excited about the future of this program.

The Lady Saints only had 2 wins this season and 1 tie but showed an extreme improvement throughout the year. This includes a first round, region tournament win over Ezell Harding Christian School. That win was MJCA's first ever girls soccer tournament win.

The real reason for the excitement, however, is the age of our girls soccer team. The Lady Saints had 4 starters that are in the 8th grade, with only one senior starter. Also, the only Lady Saint to make the all-region team (Aubrey Parsons) is in the 8th grade.

With this young talent, it would be reasonable to expect the girls soccer program to become successful within the next couple of years.

"COMING HOME" AND SENIOR NIGHT - OCTOBER 30th

In keeping with the MJCA tradition, Mt. Juliet Christian Academy will be hosting "Homecoming" during basketball season and "Coming Home" during football season. MJCA will crown "Mr. MJCA," as well as the other male class representatives, during "Coming Home" on Friday, October 30th. That night is also our last home game and will double as "Senior Night".

"Homecoming" will be at a January basketball game, to be announced. That night we will crown "Miss MJCA," as well as the other female class representatives.

Our guest for "Coming Home" will be Division 2 rival, Riverside Christian Academy. There will be plenty of activities and fun for everyone. MJCA needs all of its families to get out and celebrate this very special event.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00. We look forward to seeing all of you there.

STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE MONTH

Hannah Smith (senior) transfered to MJCA from Mt. Juliet High School this year and has already made an impression on our school. Hannah has done that by jumping in and getting involved in many activities right away.

Hannah is currently pulling double duty by playing high school girls soccer and participating in cheerleading. Smith also plans to play fast pitch softball in the fall. Hannah played for her father (Patrick), in elementary school, on a team which went undefeated and won first in the district. She plans to bring a piece of that success to the Lady Saints this spring.

Hannah has shown her athleticism in a number of other ways. One of which is dancing. Smith is an accomplished dancer, who was offered a full scholarship to the Hall of Fame School of Dance in Los Angeles, California.

While competing, dancing, and cheering, Hannah has been successful in the classroom. Hannah has been on the honor roll and the principal's list during her high school years.

Having moved from North Carolina when she was 15 and being originally from New Jersey, Hannah has seemed to have found a home here in the mid-south. She plans on staying in Tennessee to attend college at Lee University.

MJCA is proud to have Hannah Smith as this month's "Student-Athlete of the Month."
