HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER CHARGES INTO TOURNEY:

This year has been one of MJCA's best years for high school boys soccer. The Saints record is currently at 7 wins 2 losses and 4 ties. This has earned them the right to host their first game in the District 8 A-AA tournament this year. Right now, it looks like MJCA will be playing Merrol Hyde Magnet School in the first round.

The Saints have marquee wins over Friendship, Macon County, Greenbrier, Jackson County and St. Andrews. The Saints are led in scoring by Sam Mummert and assists by Brian Schlosser. They are also among the leaders in the mid-state in these statistical areas.

Congratulations to Coach Matt Swallows and the Saints soccer team on an outstanding season!

FREE SPORTS PHYSICALS SCHEDULED FOR MAY 19:

Everyone, who is planning on participating in high school or middle school sports next school year, needs to plan on getting the required sports physical. This will need to be done before the first practice.

Star Physical Therapy (who provides certified athletic trainers for MJCA) and Summit Bone and Joint will again be giving free sports physicals to the athletes of MJCA. The free physicals are scheduled for the evening of May 19th at 6:00 at Donelson Christian Academy.

Parents and athletes are encouraged to have the basics filled out on your physical form before you arrive. You can find these forms by going to www.tssaa.org and clicking on "Forms".Then, you will need to click on "physical forms" and print a copy.

It is important that we all take advantage of this free oportunity on the 19th. There will not be a make-up night. So, if any of you are unable to attend, you will be responsible for getting a sports physical, on your own, before your first day of practice.

MJCA ALUM MAY GET DRAFTED THIS SUMMER!

Former MJCA pitcher and current Cumberland University ace pitcher, Robert Post, has been approached by several major league baseball teams. Post is among the nation's leaders in NAIA and among the top NAIA prospects for this year's draft.

The 6'2 right hander has been clocked at 94 mph and is holding on to a 1.81 earned run average. This year he has had 57 strike outs versus 24 walks. His current record at Cumberland is 5-2.

Robert has always been a great example for young men and women as to what using your gift is all about. He has made it no secret that his relationship with Jesus Christ is the most important part of his life. Post aspires to be in youth ministry when his baseball career is over. He currently works with his church youth group.

Robert's high school baseball coach, Mike Jones, says "Robert Post is a special individual . . . not because he has incredible baseball talent, but because he has acted upon that talent to advance the name of Christ. He is an amazing person on and off the field."

If drafted this June, Robert would become the first MJCA baseball player to move on to the professional level in baseball.

WAGLER & WALKER POWER THROUGH DISTRICTS:

Caleb Wagler (sophomore) and Rachel Walker (8th grade) both entered the District 8 A-AA tournament as the 3-seed. Both proved to be better than that. In tennis, MJCA plays a combination of class A & AA teams for the district. This means that the competition is strong.

In the first round of district play, Caleb Wagler beat the #2 from Greenbrier by a score of 6-0, 6-3. In the second round, he won, over the #2 from White House High School in two straight sets. This sent Wagler to the championship to play the #1 player in the district, from Friendship. Although he lost that match, his second place efforts were enough to advance him to the Region 4 A-AA tournament starting on May 11.

Rachel Walker had a very similar tournament. Walker easily breezed though the first two matches by winning two straight sets in each. This got her an appointment for the championship match of the tournament. She too, lost to the #1 player in the district, but did advance to the Region 4 A-AA Tournament.

MJCA congratulates these two outstanding Saints, and wishes them the best in the Region 4 A-AA Tournament.

STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE MONTH:

Caleb Wagler, who plays in the #1 slot for MJCA tennis, has demonstrated everything that an MJCA student should. This week Wagler advanced to the Region 4 A-AA Tournament by finishing 2nd in the district tournament.

Caleb has also displayed excellence in the classroom. Caleb is a 4.0 student and is on the school's "Principal's List". He is also listed among the top academic students in his sophomore class.

Last year Wagler was named Most Valuable Player on the tennis team. That was followed by his summer travel team winning the state for the 2nd year in a row, and advancing to the national tournament. Caleb is also a member of this year's all district team (8 A-AA).

MJCA is proud to announce Caleb Wagler as this month's Student-Athlete of the Month.

SANDERS & SANDERS LEAD MIDDLE SCHOOL SOFTBALL:

The Mt. Juliet Christian Academy middle school softball team is having its best year in school history. After Tuesday's win over Donelson Christian Academy, the Lady Saints' record improved to an outstanding 12 wins and just 2 losses.

Of course, this could not be accomplished without a team full of players contributing to the cause. However, the father-daughter combination of Greg Sanders (head coach) and Savanah Sanders (pitcher) has proved to be a very important part of the team's success. Since Savanah is just in 6th grade, the next couple years of middle school softball look very promising. This has also been a very positive sign for the future of our high school softball program.

Congratulations to all of the girls and coaches who have made this season so memorable!
