EIGHTH GRADE FALL ATHLETES RECOGNIZED

Last Thursday (10/4), all eighth grade fall athletes were honored as the MJCA MS Saints took on Zion Christian Academy out of Columbia, Tennessee.  It was a great night for this special presentation as athletes and their parents were highlighted at halftime of the game.  Our Saints went on to victory over Zion Christian capping off a perfect evening for all.  Congratulations to all of our hard working middle school athletes!

COMING HOME REPRESENTATIVES

A fall evening and a football game provided the perfect setting for MJCA's Coming Home celebration.  As our Saints fought valiantly on the field, representatives from each class prepared to be recognized at halftime.  In grades 9-12, only male ambassadors were honored.  Female representatives are voted on and recognized during basketball season.  The middle school male and female representatives were both presented during halftime as well. The presentation concluded with the crowning of the middle school king and queen and our senior honor, Mr. MJCA.

Senior Josh McKenzie was crowned Mr. MJCA and was escorted by his mother.

Junior Ambassador Austin Wortman

Sophomore Ambassador Cory Walker

Freshman Ambassador Aaron Webb

NEW PRESCHOOL PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT

The preschool playground received a fun, new addition this week.  On Wednesday (10/3), the new equipment was officially open for business.  Workers have been assembling the large piece for several days, and the new giant "toy" is an exciting adventure for our smallest Saints!

FALL BREAK 2007

As the heat finally breaks and the fall chill makes its first appearance, MJCA takes its week long fall break.  During the week of October 8-12, school will not be in session.  We wish the entire school family a relaxing and refreshing time as we all gear up for the busy holiday season ahead.

COUNTRY MUSIC SHOW

WRITERS IN THE ROUND 2007

Last Tuesday night (10/16), the MJCA gym was filled with the sounds of country music.  The Fourth Annual Kenny Beard and Friends concert brought some old and new faces to the stage this year.   Montgomery Gentry joined the ticket as Jeff Bates, Aly Cutter, and Paul Overstreet were also back to share their talents with an excited crowd.  Kenny Beard always weaves stories of his friendships with these artists along with meaningful explanations of some of their greatest hits.  The personal and warm performing environment always leaves listeners satisfied.  This year was no different.  After the performances, artist memorabilia was auctioned off, and the stars stayed long after the music ended to sign autographs and talk to fans personally.  The night was not only a success from a performance standpoint, but also a success for the school as well.  Each year, these artists dedicate their time and energy to help MJCA raise money for designated needs.  This year, with their help, MJCA raised $31, 000.  This money will go a long way in providing more opportunities for MJCA students.  Thanks to all who had a hand in making this such a special night.  And a special thanks to the artists for sacrificing their time for our school!

Autographed memorabilia ready for auction.

GRANDPARENT'S DAY

On Friday (10/5), MJCA welcomed over 1000 special guests to campus for Grandparent's Day.  The gym filled quickly as students found their guests and waited for the program to begin.  The theme this year was a Night at the Oscars.  Teachers and students could dress as their favorite movie stars or don attire appropriate for attending the Oscar ceremony itself.  Fifth grade teacher David Spence acted as host for the program, and he introduced Headmaster Greg Scheck to begin the festivities.

The hour long program contained some special highlights as both the band and choir performed for the capacity crowd.  Elementary students also creatively dramatized important stories from the scripture.  After the presentation concluded, students were free to leave campus with their grandparents or special friends as the school day ended at 11:30 a.m.  Thank you to all who put in extra work to organize this event which celebrates the significance of family.

The high school choir performs for the crowd.

Student art work was on display in the game room.

The band performs several musical numbers.

BIBLE CHARACTER DAY

PRESCHOOL

Walking down the elementary hallway today (10/18) was like taking a trip through the Bible.  Preschool students came dressed as their favorite Biblical characters, and teachers took their little ones through the hallways on a special parade.  What a great opportunity for elementary students to internalize the truths of the scripture and have fun all at the same time!

Our preschool staff, MJCA's very own angels!
